Alan Brown

Lake Orion, Michigan

Alan Brown, an illustration major from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and a retired park ranger, made the switch from 2D to 3D art 17 years ago. The influence of nature and the outdoors from his 40 years as a park ranger is prominent in his sculpture, which is done in marble and bronze mediums that are often combined. Much of his work is fantasy-themed in a neoclassical style. His background in illustration shows in his attention to detail, texture, and composition. A long-time participant in the MARBLE/marble Stone Carving Symposium, Alan now serves as an instructor there and at the 2Sculpt Stone Carving Workshop, and teaches casting in the foundry at the College for Creative Studies.
