Gary Liscum

Greeley, Colorado

A Colorado native, Gary Liscum grew up primarily in Boulder. In 1979, he graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in fine arts, and in 1983 from the College of Traditional Medicine with a degree in Oriental Medicine. As a practicing acupuncturist of almost forty years, Gary has studied and lived in China. His sculptures’ content integrates spiritual, philosophical, and literary metaphor into visual embodiment by de-emphasizing the body into flowing curves and exaggerating gesturing hands. He creates what are called Dai Zi Ren (Bag People). His intention is to visually convey a deeper sense of the great mystery we all share. His work is on display at Madison and Main Gallery in Greeley, and in private collections.
