Gary Mitchell
St. Louis, Missouri
Gary Mitchell received a BSME from the University of California Berkeley in 1977 and an MFA from the University of California Santa Barbara in 1995. In the 1980s he sold painted aluminum fabricated cow heads through Asher Faure Gallery in Los Angeles and Elaine Horwitch Gallery in Santa Fe. Moving from animals as subjects to the human body, he now fabricates with aluminum and paint, with enamel torsos and heads. His pieces have been collected by Delta State University, the city of Hot Springs, Arkansas, the city of Gillette, Wyoming, and private collectors. His intent is to express the ideal of love and beauty through the physical reality of the human body.
