Gerald Painter

Great Falls, Montana

Gerald was born in eastern Pennsylvania and graduated from the University of Scranton in 1990 with a BS in biology. He has lived in Montana since 1997 and has been pursuing his art career ever since. He began as a wildlife artist and moved to sculpture about fifteen years ago. His science background can still be seen in his highly detailed and anatomically accurate pieces.

He has won numerous awards at the Ward World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition in Ocean City, Maryland, including the World Championship in 2017. He has also been a frequent contributor to Birds in Art at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin, and has a piece in its permanent collection.
