Octavian Bosneag
Overland Park, Kansas
Born in Bucharest, Romania, Octavian Bosneag has a degree in thermoelectric engineering. During his army tour, he discovered the sculpture of Constantin Brancusi, a modernism pioneer and influential twentieth century sculptor. The ensuing fascination with Brancusi's pieces cemented Octavian’s desire to pursue contemporary sculpture. Although his central medium is marble, he has worked with bronze, wood, and metal.
Octavian studied figurative bronze under Kwan Wu and Lincoln Fox, and stone carving under Myles Schachter, and participates in MARBLE/marble Stone Carving symposiums with Ryoichi Suzuki and Madeline Wiener. Retired from the landscaping business he owned for 27 years, Octavian has presented his marble sculptures in several art shows during the past five years.
