Randal Leek
Yakima, Washington
The abundance of nature and contemporary architecture of the Pacific Northwest gives Randal’s art its aesthetic origin. His career in management of heavy construction projects in his late thirties led him to a stint with the Peace Corps in Gabon building rural primary schools in remote villages, then further into refugee assistance and disaster recovery programs with UNICEF, CARE, the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and ultimately with USAID in Afghanistan.
A self-taught artist, he continues to learn and experiment each day in his studio, and admits that, “This has been my passion in retirement. Having my own time has allowed me to be totally focused on design and fabrication of sculpture. My professional career was intense, and I’ve been able to carry a kind of creative intensity into my work.” Randal is represented in galleries in Yakima, Edmonds, Camano Island, La Conner, and Port Townsend in Washington, and Cannon Beach, Lincoln City, and Yachats in Oregon.
