Rollin Karg

Kechi, Kansas

Rollin Karg was born in Columbus Ohio, on August 20, 1944, and raised in Miami, Florida. He was offered a football scholarship to Wichita State University, where he studied business administration and worked for various companies, including Cessna, which trained him to be an industrial engineer. After he took a tour of the Corning Glass Museum in New York and watched the glassblowing, he was hooked!  He discovered and immediately enrolled in, the glassblowing program at Emporia State University.

Rollin eventually created metal stands as a better way to display his signature Satellite Discs, and that innovation ultimately grew into building large outdoor metal sculptures. His work has appeared or been installed in the Georgetown Annual Sculpture Tour in Georgetown, Texas; the Sculpture Garden Trail at Lakewood Park in Leander, Texas; the Sculpture Walk in St. Joseph, Missouri; Sculpture Walk Sioux Falls in South Dakota; Apex Sculpture Walk in Apex, North Carolina; Sculpture Tour Salina in Kansas; Cedar Park Sculpture Garden in Cedar Park, Texas; and Sunken Garden Park in San Angelo, Texas.
