George Walbye

Loveland, Colorado

Although Colorado sculptor George Walbye is an artist who has spent his entire life in the Rocky Mountain West, his sculpture moves beyond ordinary perceptions of western art. A series of bronze bowls and lidded pots, for which George is especially noted, use elements inspired by American Indian art and ornamentation, but there is a contemporary quality in their design.

George was born in Rawlins, Wyoming, and spent boyhood summers working on ranches near the area homesteaded by his grandfather at Whiskey Gap.

George is one of the five founding artists of Sculpture in the Park, and this will be his 40th consecutive show. Keep up with George online at www.walbyeartstudio.com.
